Brumby Engineering College Background Brumby is a specialist engineering college. It holds the healthy school award, the Artsmark silver award and the silver sports award. The rebuilding of the college started in June 2009 and they began services in their new buildings during 2011. The College faces a number of significant challenges as it has above the national average of pupils from families experiencing higher levels of deprivation. Similarly its percentage of students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities is much higher than national average. College Vision The College’s vision is to excel in the engineering environment where all students are expected to achieve, not only academically but socially and personally. MASS provided and integrated a complete range of ICT equipment, networks, software and services to support this vision. |

Business As Usual as the College Site experienced a 70% reconstruction Recognising that young people only get one chance at their education the College staff, construction partner and MASS responded to the challenge of a major rebuild of the site whilst ensuring the continuation of learning with minimal disruption. In practice this mean’t carefully planned and co-ordinated decants to functional temporary accommodation allowing demolition and rebuilding. Keeping the ‘ICT lights on’ during this period posed an additional challenge to provisioning a new integrated ICT infrastructure. Our success was primarily due to the close liaison between MASS, the College Management Team and the construction partner. The project was segmented into a number of phases with careful pre-planning of all the three party’s activities prior to the implementation of each phase. Additionally, MASS were able to draw on their extensive history of work within transitional environments and during construction activities to ensure a successful and timely completion. |

The project was delivered to time and budget and the future rolls of pupils now benefit from a modern and engaging new learning environment. The College staff also now benefit from a transformed and technologically serviced College estate. |
